Rim Rimo - Skype

Unread postby yabo » Sat Nov 29, 2014 4:23 pm

hey guys,

1st... thank you for creating such a site... was helpful in not making me feel alone.

I'm not sure how the system here works... but i wanted to get these numbers and info out on the web for people to find it in the future.

I fell a victim to what seems to be a pretty common Skype scam. Moroccan girl on Skype.. wants sex chat... you both turn on the cam... a couple of minutes later... video stops and on the chat she tells you the video was actually a stream from a porn movie and now he has my video naked.

He had a sublist of my friends on Facebook and threatened to send the video to them if I didn't send him USD3,000 which quickly became USD1,000. He wanted me to send it using Western Union.

I made the mistake of having my real phone number on Skype as well as my email address (big/stupid mistake... take them out now)... anyway... knowing that sending the money will be only the beginning, i sent nothing... blocked him on Skype... blocked him on Whatsapp and sent him an invalid Western Union number... now lets hope he forget about me and the video doesn't end up on my family's Facebook walls.

I emailed abuse@skype.com. Not sure how useful is that.

The Skype ID used is: rim.rimo42
Phone Number 1: +212 630 754592
Phone Number 2: +212 633 210613

He asked me to send the money to: Saida Lebghadda

Be careful and wish me luck.

Dear Yabo,
Please do not try to close the accounts being used by the Scammer. It only takes minutes to open a new one that is un-documented and they will be back in business with nothing to warn people. Please post as much information about the scammer here as that will save other victims. I know it sounds like the wrong thing to do but it's kind of like "knowing where the enemy is, is much better than not knowing where he isn't".

Hello Big Al,

Thank you very much for the reply. Do you know if it is required in Morocco to link your mobil number to your ID? In most Arab countries that is the case.

yabo,

If you think they can be traced and arrested in Morocco by just using their mobile phones, forget about it.
They use fake names, and could also have stolen phones. As far as we know there is no requirement to have a phone number to register a skype account.

Please go here and follow all of the advice to protect yourself and other victims of the scammer.
http://www.scamsurvivors.com/blackmail/#/ Do not skip any steps. Block his phone number, and do not open any emails from the scammer (Delete them unopened) or unknown names for the 2 week period. Log out of that skype account and do not log back into it during this time either.

Update:

Scammer sent the video to a list of my friends. He posted the video on YouTube and sent them the link. The number of views was 9 but I don't think they saw it. I reported the video as sexual content with sextortion in the comments. Video was removed in less than 5 minutes from YouTube.

He messaged me on Facebook from the following profile:
Reemo Alahmadi facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008516432650&fref=ts&ref=br_tf
I don't understand where he gets the list of friends from. The list of friends he claims that he sent the video to are within one social circle. My college friends. One of the people he had on the list had a number of mutual friends but wasn't an actual friend. I believe he didn't know that. I don't think he actually saw my friends list. He believed that person was an actual friend. Any idea how I can block him from seeing my friends on Facebook? Is it possible he created another profile and befriended one of my college friends and gained access to that list using this tactic?

Update:

He did infact send friend requests to a number of my friends. He is also following a number of them on Facebook. I asked my friends and the ones who replied said they didn't accept him. I think he needed to befriend them to make sure the link will show directly in their inbox instead of the "other" folder which you don't get notified for.

Now the game is more of a "content distribution" dilemma for him. He need to befriend people in order to send them the link so they can see it before someone on YouTube report the video as sexual content and get it removed.

That's why getting the video removed is so important. Even if they do send a link, it'll just go to a dead page.

No Skype anymore.

FB account is still active. All security & privacy settings are cranked up though. Deactivating it would raise too many questions among my friends.

I'm also debating if i should block all channels. His chat on FB was my only way of receiving this link first and reporting it to YouTube. Otherwise, I would have heard about it first from one of my friends. Not cool. What you think?
