This happened a little over 12 hours ago; the following is copied from a Reddit post I made.
I was sextorted by someone I met on a dating app. We mostly chatted on Kik. Before I picked up on the scam, I sent a selfie; it was literally just a photo of my face and neck. I also sent over my IG account, which was public.
Their account was suspicious and that clued me in on the scam. I did a reverse image search and found that the photos they sent were that of a porn star, Ariel Rebel. The sextortionist was asking to see a picture of penis, but I refused to send one. However, I stupidly gave my number, because they gave theirs...which I now realize is probably spoofed. When I started calling out the sextortionist on the scam, they got really angry. They found a photo of someone else's penis and threatened to send it along with my selfie. I wasn't really scared because it wasn't even mine. So, I blocked them on Kik and IG and reported both accounts. However, by then, they had already gotten access to the accounts I follow on IG.
They texted me with a different number (which might also be spoofed) and told me that they would send my photos to the IG accounts I follow. I ignored them and decided to block the number and deactivate FB and IG. Because of a glitch with iPhones, they were still able to text me and told me that they sent the photos.
They actually provided screenshots of the IG messages they sent! I'm pretty sure they actually sent them because it wouldn't make sense for them to photoshop those pictures. I haven't heard anything from my friends or the scammer since then.
So, unlike most sextortion scams, my photos were leaked. AND the sextortionist actually went through the effort of finding fake photos. I wonder if this was because I called their bluff, so they decided to send my photos out of spite.
