Ignore the text.
Four weeks, minimum.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

Thank you so much for helping. I will reactivate my account in 4 weeks. Do most scammers typically give up in this time?

Yes they do. That's why we suggest that in the steps.

As of now I have deactivated snapchat, Twitter, Facebook. I have an Instagram account but I changed it so that it no longer has my name in it. The two things I can't change are my email and phone #'s because this is where everyone contacts me at. I also made the mistake of replying to the college text I received. Could they use this against me?

I have an Instagram account
This is not following the steps. DEactivate it. Every social account.

Change your email address. This is another missed step I suggest you slow down your posting and READ the steps, and Follow them

I also made the mistake of replying to the college text I received. Could they use this against me?

If it was not the college, but the scammer, yes. They may know that your number is not changed and may keep trying to contact you.

I understand these steps, but getting rid of my email account would literally change my way of life. All of the work I do is through it, and changing it would be a massive problem. If I just block any unknown senders and don't open any emails from people I don't know should I be fine?

Just the facts, ma'am....
Change it or take your chances.

This is the last I'll say about any of the steps. End of story. You have them; it is up to you to follow them or not.

So basically, the whole purpose of this is to entirely ghost them and leave them with no hope that they can get in touch with me. This will result in them just giving up, and leaving me alone. That's a good strategy, and thanks so much for helping. I'm just curious, how much information are these scammers able to dig up. If that college text was in fact fabricated, I'm pretty worried about how much else they have on me. That's pretty serious and terrifying.

Anyways, thank you so much for what you do. You are really a savior and I pray that I don't get leaked.

After a month and a half of posting last time I feel much better, I have regained myself and have decided not to believe in the scammers lies. Nothing shows up when I search my name, no google alerts received either. Nothing has happened and I’m sure everything is over. Although most cases involve videos, do the steps and google alerts also apply to pictures?
