Dear Survivor ,
We wish to express our condolences to you as one of the family of Paul Volcker, which his death was confirmed by his daughter Janice V Zima a Nurse Practitioner Specialist in Arlington, Virginia via her email<
janicazima@aol.com > who did not specify the cause but had been treated for prostate cancer, which was diagnosed in 2018.
You cousin as he listed you in CRT was a committed public servant, held in the highest regard internationally and within Switzerland and the United States. Among the many accomplishments of his long career, he was appointed to head the Independent Committee of Eminent Persons (ICEP) also known as Volcker Commission, that was established in 1996 to investigate the accounts lying dormant since the Second World War in various banks in Switzerland.
During this period, Mr Volcker led the restructuring of the Foundation that established a memorandum of understanding on May 2, 1996, between the World Jewish Restitution Organization, the World Jewish Congress and the Swiss Bankers Association that lead to easy payment of holocaust claims. The MOU indicated two objectives for the committee: "(a) to identify accounts in Swiss banks of victims of Nazi persecution that have lain dormant since World War II or have otherwise not been made available to those victims or their heirs; (b) to assess the treatment of the accounts of victims of Nazi persecution by Swiss banks.
We wish you will conclude with your fee for your claims release as many of the Foundation’s achievements in subsequent years are therefore thanks to the path set out by Mr Volcker during his tenure as Chairman of the ICEP which indeed the world, owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Paul for a lifetime of dedicated public service and countless examples of kindness.
We are all very fortunate to have known him of integrity, humanity and work ethic lasting inspiration.
Acknowledge this e mail as accept to our condolence.
