Storm Lake, IA (KICD) — Scammers pretending to be from Verizon are making the rounds in the Storm Lake area.
The Storm Lake Police Department says they had received a report where a scammer claiming to be from Verizon told a victim they need their pin number for their account to reactivate it. The victim then began to receive information about phones that were being purchased on the account without authorization. Verizon has confirmed the number is not associated with them in any way.
The department encourages citizens not to give out personal information over the phone.

If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.
