and social media scams in lee county. this after authorities say two men went onto someone's property...selling that person's possessions online. wtva's rebecca butcher joins us live now with what we know investigators say the suspects pretended to inherit about 13 thousand dollars worth of items from a deceased relative... they recommend safely making purchases here at this exchange at the department instead...when dealing with online sellers. sheriff jim johnson says the story these two...24-year-old renshay dean and 42-year-old louis rodgers... ...gave to buyers was that their grandfather passed away...and they were just trying to get rid of his stuff...when the actual owner it still alive. laymond palmer, lives near mooreville "i don't think it's a bit right myself, because they don't own it or nothing." sheriff jim johnson says the suspects took pictures of four tractors and two cars among other items...then posted it on facebook to sell.
they're now charged with grand larceny. sheriff jim johnson, lee county sheriff's department "we want to warn the public about purchasing stuff online from an individual." authorities say people responded to the ad...meeting the suspects on the property...not knowing it did not belong to the sellers. authorities so far recovered 3 tractors and some personal property. laymond palmer "a bunch of lies to me just to get a tractor and some stuff. people are crazy these days and times." right now,authorities are still looking for other items that were taken. if you've replied to this ad or know someone who did you're asked to contact the sheriff's department. live in lee county, rebecca butcher wtva nine news. at , alan's here with
