According to the sheriff's office, Someone is calling residents and an automated recording plays saying that the persons AT&T account is compromised.
The automated recording will then prompt the caller to press 1 to be further advised of the process. The sheriff's office advises not to press one and immediately hang up to avoid being scammed.
AT&T will not call individuals personally for this type of alleged issue.
The call does sound legitimate at first because of the AT&T recorded message but the sheriff's office said this has definitely been labeled as a scam.
