Blackmail Scripts

I was blackmailed with 3 phone numbers
-------------------------------------------------
Phone number 1: Used for contact and sharing facebook contact information to scare me

<Up until this point I believed I was talking to an individual, then they "confessed" that they work for an escort agency and that I would need to talk to their boss, at this point I said no and that I am not interested in meeting>

Them: You need to contact my boss right now. <Phone number 2>. Message my boss. Then I will delete all the pics and not share them. So are you going to text my management now?
Them: So you are going to text my management now?
Them: SO you want me to share them right now? So you are not going to talk? and not going to message my boss? So tell me? you want me to start it now?
Me: I will. Give me a minute. I'm in shock
Them: Just talk to my boss. Do this for our meet up. Then I will delete the information.
Me: Yes. I'm on my way back home...pls gimme time..I will talk
Them: Just message my boss now. After you talk, I assure you I will delete the pics and you will have no problem.
Me: Please...in 10 mins. I'm on a highway.
Them: Okay? Ready to talk to my boss? What now?
Me: Yes

Phone number 2 then calls me and says that I need to send $1500. At this point I already had Police come over. The police overheard the conversation. It was basically me saying I'm a student and I have no money and that I need time. They said that If I paid, I could meet the model and get 50% refund after having 'fun'. Obviously these were lies too.

Phone 2: Pretending to be 'management'
------------------------------------------------
Them: THIS IS MANAGEMENT OF <Phone 1 owner's name> I HAVE A COPY OF YOUR NAKED PICS AND YOUR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS...WELL SIR I AM EASIER TO SPREAD TO SOCIAL MEDIA YOUR NAKED PICS AND I WILL EASIER TO LOSE YOUR CAREER AND DIGNITY. I GUESS YOU WANTED TO GET SOME TROUBLE SINCE YOU DID NOT WANTED TO SET UP MEETING WITH <Owner of phone 1> SO I WILL EXPOSE ALL YOUR PICS TO YOUR ORIGINALLY COUNTRY AND <current country> . ITS THAT WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO SIR? SO TELL ME YOU WANT TO DELETE IT ALL JUST COOPERATE WITH ME.
Them: SIR WE HAVE A DEAL AND I WANT MONEY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Them: SIR HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
Me: 1 hr please
Them: YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DON'T SEND THE MONEY OKAY SIR?
Them: OKAY PAY ME $1000 AND MEET MY MODEL, AND THEN YOU WILL GET BACK HALF OF REFUND $500
Them: GIVE ME UPDATE SIR
Them: Het What now sir

At this point I deactivated my sim for 2 days

Phone 3: Mad at me for blocking them
----------------------------------------------
THEM: WELL f*ck OFF TO YOU SIR....YOU BREAK THE DEAL YOU WAS PROMISE..I ASSURE YOU THIS WILL BE TROUBLE YOU WILL GET...I WAS TALKING TO INTERPOLE TO SHARE ALL YOUR NAKED PICS TO YOUR FAMILIES AND FAMILIES. YOU BLOCK MY MODEL AND ME..THISIS MANAGEMENT..WELL I ASSURE YOU THIS IS UNFORGETBLE
THEM: LET'S GONNA SEE WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN
THEM: IT WILL BE SURPRICE FOR YU SIR
THEM: GOOD LUCK TO YU SIR I ASSURE YOU THIS SPREAD TO CNN NEWS AND SOCIAL MEDIA FOR VIRAL SEXUAL HARASSMENT
THEM: IF YOU WILL SEND $500 I WILL ACCEPT OF IT...BUT IF YOU STILL NOT GONNA SEND THE PAYMENT GOOD LUCK
THEM: I AM READY FOR YOU FAMILIES NOW AND SIR WAIT FOR YOUR WARRANT OF ARREST FOR SEXUAL HARASSMENT
THEM: GOOD LUCK TO YOU
-----------------------------------------------
End of logs
-----------------------------------------------

Admins/Mods i wonder if this variation of webcam blackmail is common? The accent of the caller was undoubtedly Phillipino. By the time they get to the third phone number, and I had the phone disconnected, they are were throwing everything at me - Interpol, CNN, sexual harassment. At this point it was very clear to me that these guys are mostly using scare tactics. Come on, you can't talk to interpol!!! I feel so dumb - I know you can't directly complain/talk to interpol or spread naked pics to CNN, but I was dumb enough to fall for this scam!!

Everyone. Please stay safe and spread awareness. The world is full of maggots like these and it's upto the others to stand up to them and stay safe.

Also just putting out my thoughts on how my FB settings may/may not have aided the severity of the blackmail. My account had pretty strong settings - No one can see my friends list. However, they managed to somehow find the reactions on my profile picture - that was about 35 of my 500 odd friends on FB. I have fewer than 5 family members on FB, but two of them were in the list of 35.

I am mad at FB that they allow random people to be able to see your profile picture reactions!!! I am also mad at myself for not being more careful. Also, I left 'search by phone number' on for 'public' just a week before the incident. It has always been available only to 'friends'.

I doubt if I will ever create a facebook account again.

Yes, it is common for them to use multiple phone numbers and characters to scam. Any way to get to you is fair game for them . Their only avenue was your phone number, so if you have not changed it, do so.

Yes. The scam happened 4 weeks ago. My phone has been permanently deactivated after the text messages from the third phone number.

I have had no news/contact since. Do you think I'm in the clear yet?

Probably, yes. If the last phone call was 30 days ago.
Just make sure that you make brand new social media accounts using brand new email addresses and phone number.
Also, do not reuse any pictures or names in the accounts.

Yes. I will be extremely safe with any further internet activity I do in my life. I haven't heard anything regarding the incident since it happened 31 days ago.

This experience has made me look into the kind of person I am and what I want to be. This was an extremely shameful experience for me - I have never cried this much. I even considered ending it all - but the faces of loved ones stopped me, and the fact that I have not wronged another human. I spent a lot of time with this immense weight on my head ALL the time. The only solace to me has been reading the threads here.

I have not gathered the courage to tell anyone (except a Police Officer and you guys) about this incident. That pains me more than anything else - it shows me the kind of relationships I have and should have.

This week has been relatively better in the sense that the intensity of my anxiety has reduced - but I am certain that the intensity might increase sometime and turn into a panic attack. I believe this is part of the process of rehabilitation and there is no shortcut. Does this ever end? Will I ever be a carefree person again?

I still have evidence in from the incident (in terms of logs and voice recordings) and whenever I have a look at it - it makes my anxiety worse. All kinds of what if questions start hitting me - have they sent the images and I don't know yet? Did they upload the picture online? I feel like deleting them would never looking at them again would make things better but I want to keep it in case law enforcement asks for it.

I am sorry for ranting.

Thank you. Without your advice - I'd be in the doldrums emotionally.

Delete all that stuff. Law enforcement already has it. If it makes your anxiety worse, just toss it, and move on.

Thank you for the podcast links. It was really therapeutic. I feel really bad for the lady who was being sextorted - but I was also blown away by her strength and positiveness. I hope she is doing well now.

You are talking about podcast 21. Her sextortion was far different than your scam. She knew her blackmailer, who was in the Dominican Republic. He was an old boyfriend, who was using her underage pics to blackmail her, 8 years after they broke up. Her scam was not about money, but control.

I moved your media report to our media section, under External links section.
Is it cultural? or about law and order?
Both. The law has no teeth over there, and blackmailers spend little time, if any, in prisons if they are caught.

Yes SH, I listened to 11,16 as well as 21. Her case seemed similar to that of Amanda Todd in that the perpetrator likely knew her in person. I hope I/we can help support efforts in building a better internet for the future.

Also, in my case the screenshots of contacts they sent were definitely taken from a phone - based on the shape of the screenshot. The internet connection they were using was facebook basics (internet.org) - again based on the screenshot they sent me. They had access to 4G data connectivity - not broadband.

Also, they did not necessarily know my relatives - they just picked people who they thought had my last name from a friend's friendlist and threatened to send it to 3 people who they thought were my relatives with the following message 'Hey, do you know <my name>? I have full naked pictures of him. Do you want to see?'

I just wanted to get their MO out. Hope it informs and helps people.
