blackmail scam/sextortion scare

Hey guys, this site has been a blessing for me to have stumbled upon searching for some help on a possible scammer, so thank you all. A few days ago I was in a chat room and made a massive error in judgement by sending a revealing pic of myself to some girl, at the time the person wanted to chat on Skype or cam but I declined so they do not have video of me, just a pic. Anyways a couple days after the incident i was on Facebook and noticed the person friended me! The realization of what could potentially happen hit me like a ton of bricks and I immediately deleted and blocked the user, I also tightened security on my Facebook account as much as possible. It has been a day and a half since I've done that and I have not received any threatening email or further contact on Facebook or email since, but Im still pretty worried. I have not told anyone about this and frankly do not want to unless absolutely necessary. How long should I worry about this? If they haven't send any threats yet should I be worried? Any advice or comments are appreciated

A day and a half? I'd say you lucked out by blocking them so fast. I'm betting they moved on by now, or maybe were not a scammer at all. Since they cannot reach you now, no worries, mate.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

Thanks slaphappy, I feel much better about it today and I think your right. I definitely learnt a valuable lesson from this though, and I will never do it again.
