What steps, if any, have you already taken to block the scammer?: I deactivated my facebook account. Scammer had asked for my WhatsApp number and photo, which I stupidly gave. They created a fake facebook accout with my name and picture and started sending friend requests to my friends and started sending them messages to call me urgently and tell to log onto skype. I went to a local police station, but police said they will not be able to assist me as the person is not in USA. I reactivated my fb profile, and changed my privacy settings, removed my phone number from the account. I reported the account as someone impersonating me to fb and they deactivated it. I cleaned up my friends list and also sent a note to all saying not to accept friend requests from any account claiming to be mine with my name and picture.

Lesson Learnt: Do not indulge with strangers, you can be duped.

Anything you say may help prevent someone else from being scammed, no matter how trivial it may seem at the time.: The scammer added my friends anonymously by putting a ladies name called Nancy Varghese. friends added him.. Then he put the nude video on his profile..Thats when i messaged him on skype to stop doing it and he removed it.. Dont know if the profile has been removed or deactivated.. He asked for 15,000 AED and negotiated .He also said he will remove the video and my account after the money is received and he will not harm me in anyway.
I have deactived my FB account..

She sent couple of my family members names and told that she would send them. I activated my facebook after three days. she sent the vedio to few of my friends. After getting to know that I immediately deactivated my facebook.

Do not pay the scammer. It will only make things harder for you. Go to our Blackmail website and fill out the form. Then follow all the steps provided to protect yourself from the scammer. Does no one ever spot the fact that, not only am I a site admin, but I've posted thousands of scam reports. Either I'm the biggest sucker in history or maybe, just maybe, I might be posting these reports on behalf of others and haven't actually been scammed myself. I'll let you be the judge of that.
