Deactivated Facebook, removed public LinkedIn, brought down my personal
portfolio website off of internet for now, changed gmail and social media
passwords. Blocked from skype, blocked from cell phone. Deleted OkCupid
account and uninstalled it. Will change phone number and get a new one.
Removed all tags in public posts in facebook before deactivating.

Now I realize it was a classic scam and I was too naive and stupid to
fall for it. It was by the book as mentioned in the slides in this website.

The victim of this scam, here. The scammer came back asking for more money after 5 days.
He emailed me from an address that has previous hits in scamsurvivor so I though i should add that here. I will not reply or pay him anything anymore ever, no matter the situation.

Thanks a lot, firefly for your suggestion. I am changing my mobile number and this email as well, as those have been compromised. By changing, I presume, you mean deleting it so no emails can come?
Moreover, I know your time is very valuable, but I have one particular question to ask, more like apprehension. Would it be possible for me to reach you through a private message or email? It's totally fine if not.
