Not necessary to close email accounts. Just abandon the accounts. Never login to them ever again.
Eventually the mail provider will delete them for inactivity.
The scammer could then have no way to tell if you logged in or not, and could not threaten you there.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

was just scammed...

Unread postby broomperson » Fri Apr 07, 2017 1:03 am

i was just scammed. I payed the scammer too. I have no experience with this and could really use someone to talk to.

Amanda Borwen is the skype name

1. i followed all the steps. deleted all my social media etc...

my scammer did not post anything to youtube or the like... just showed me via skype and told me to pay. I did not haggle because i was scared to. So i did the western union and now i'm just here dealing with it.

my scammer was very apologetic the entire time. I don't know if that is a ploy (it probably is), but he kept saying "im sorry i dont want to do this" and stuff like that.

so SHOULD I delete the money being sent? It was about an hour ago, should I? I'm scared that this will upset him... i listened to the interview podcast, but i really want some advice for people who have actually paid. Do i just take the hit?

Do not pay! Recall your money. It makes no difference in the outcome of the scam at all, except you are poorer for it.

His apologies are just a ploy. Go to blackmailscams.com and DO EVERY STEP. Disappear everywhere online ASAP.

Ok, how do i recall the payment? I checked my online bank account and it will not let me, though it says pending.

thank you. i am trying to stay calm. I followed the steps, but i am going to look it over one more time for good measure. I've disappeared from the internet.

thank you so much.

EDIT: i've googled how to delete the payment.

Look up the western union customer service phone number online and call them. There is no need to go into details, except to say that the person is a scammer and you want the payment cancelled ASAP before he is able to pick it up.

And logout of skype too now, and do not ever login to that skype again.

ok, i have another question for you though. Is it normal for the blackmailer to show themselves delete the video? He was very adamant that, "oh if you pay me this money you'll never hear from me again" and then he showed me him deleting the video and then deleting it again, putting it in the trash or whatever.

i just, i don't know, i did delete the money order and i am getting my money back tomorrow.

im just wondering if my guy was the norm, or different than usual

I just want to hopefully get some confirmation that this guy did actually delete the video after I showed him that I payed... any experience with this? He showed me that he deleted it supposedly and vehemently promised that he would never contact me again and that the video would not see the light of day.

But I cancelled the payment hours afterwards and after I basically deleted myself from the internet and followed the steps. Just very paranoid now.

If anyone would be up to talking I'd really appreciate it because I'm not doing well
