Names and email used, and modus operandi.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

I read in an article some time ago, 20 moroccans were arrested for this scam. According to your data, do you think this scam is over or decreased compared to before in morocco?

Skype Security Question

Unread postby BPGuy » Fri Jan 31, 2020 8:58 am

I was recently the victim of a scam. I transferred no money and recognized it as a scam, but the scammer gave me the indication that he/she could see the screen on my phone. I did get the playback of the lovely video :(. I was on the help line with Microsoft as it appeared that my account was being compromised (although I think in my state of anxiety I was actually the one locking the account down, not the scammer). I was stalling as I wasn't planning on giving any money to either the Western Union or Money Gram app the scammer wanted me to use. At one point I said my battery was running out and the scammer said "Your battery is at 50%, I can see it."

Is this possible?

Also, can the scammer get my contact list from Skype during a chat?

I followed all the steps recommended here, except I reported the user to Skype before I read everything here.

I was using Google voice with an alias, different phon number and gave no personal data, social media profiles, etc, transferred no money and didn't give the scammer any screenshots of the Apps with any data filled in - although I did send a face photo of myself which I searched the web for afterwards and found only one instance of, and removed it from that account and closed it. I've followed everything else to a T.

I'm just concerned that my contact list was discovered or that a remote control app (scammer sent a pic through text) might have been installed on my iPhone.

Although this is very rare, the scammer appears to have installed a RAT on your phone. Save your contacts somewhere, then do a factory reset of your phone. And think again and watch out for porn sites, as they are infested with viruses and malware. And the people hanging out on them have the worst intent for you.
