This particular catch by this scam artist may be one of the biggest
jackpots made. DON'T be a SAVIOR in the scammer's story!
I had been caught in the typical SMS sexting 'underage daughter' father
call exploitation scam, however tacked-on in addition was the claim that
the 'daughter' (Ashley) had attempted to commit suicide a week after I had
exchanged nudes with her (and to be clear, the exchange was only done given
'her' would-be-legal listed OkCupid account age was 20 — the account was
deleted soon after she reached to me by number. Idiot strike number one).
I was emotionally devastated and desperate for resolution upon this news
when the father "Christopher" called and said she was 16 and in this
self-harmer condition. Though I knew more and more overtime of my innocence
given the 'daughter's' false identity, I did HAVE extra resources, and a
too big a heart. I negotiated to help pay expenses as an immediate plea,
and he accepted ... which I now realize is usually the main course all
along. DON'T LET THEM LEAD YOUR EMOTIONS. Don't let them PACE YOU over the
phone, be rational, and WHEN THINGS SEEM INSANE as they claim to protect
your safety, OBJECT!
I had sent thousands over UPS shipping with the grossest feeling as
"Christopher" directed me through picking up money from the bank and how to
package it, and I asked "why can't I just give the money to you in person?"
— he nervously insisted "it's best to just do this my way" for MY
'safety' again, but I was too gullible and convinced I was really HELPING
his daughter by keeping anonymous as he said, that I complied. This
involved sending the package (as 'he did as well, apparently) to SOUTH
CAROLINA from more than four states out north where 'we' supposedly lived.
THEY. GET. RIDICULOUS. When this happens BLOCK THEM. I was a fool and
carried through this awkward money-shipping process by UPS since I was
being PACED to get this over with!
