Skype Contact list

Is it possible your contact list get hacked by a scammer? I had a talk with a strange person through skype who tried to call me but I did not answer and in chat he told me that he has stolen my contact list. Of course he tried to alert me telling the number of my contacts that is shown in public, but anything else beyond that.

Did they send you any files? They can't just magically hack your Skype, but they could send you a trojan disguised as an image and get access to your PC that way.

Nop nothing received or sent, just texting.

I heard from firefly that you were using the linux version of Skype, so check privacy this way.
Click on Blue Skype symbol in lower left of main Skype window.
Click "Options"
Check your Skype Options screen. Privacy settings. Set them to a higher privacy.

"Allow calls from..."
anybody
only people I have allowed << check this

"Allow chats from..."
anybody
only people I have allowed << check this

Then there are three options below those:

Allow my status to be shown on the web. << uncheck this

Allow my contacts to see the number of contacts I have. << uncheck this

Automatically answer incoming calls. << uncheck this

Scammers lie. He might have been able to see how many contacts you had, but he has no list.

Block the user by right-clicking the mouse, and choose last setting, "Block This User."

They were all disabled, except the number of contacts. Anyway thanks for the response!
