The person in the picture is me- @footdocdana on Instagram. If you find a fake account of me, please DM me the direct link and simply say "fake account of you" and I'll report it to get it shut down.

I get WAY too many creepy/harassing messages from men who are being scammed by people pretending to be me.

Thank you for your post, footdocdana, and also thank you for doing your part to keep the Internet clean.

We are sorry for all the harassment you are subjected to.

People defrauded by these crooks are victims of a crime and sometimes they don't understand that they are not the only victims.

Each time when a picture is used in an online fraud, is a stolen picture of someone who is also a victim, having his / her image and sometimes even identity stolen and used online to commit a crime.

We said it before and we are saying it again: real owners of the stolen pictures used in scams have nothing to do with the fraudsters abusing their image / identity online.

Losing money because of the scammer is never a pleasant experience.

It is important to report the fraud to your local police and also to the financial institutions you used to send the money the scammer asked for.

Can you maybe add here the email address the scammers used with you and some of the messages they sent asking for money?

Please be sure you remove your real life details (name, address, phone number etc.) if mentioned in the messages you received before posting the messages.

If you are unsure what part of the messages are relevant, feel free to use my email address (you can find it below) to forward to me the emails you received and I can post them on your behalf.

Any new scam details may save another potential victim.
