Hi! Slappy suggested I post this here. I entered a pic of my dog into a contest and subsequently got an email saying they entered the pic into another contest where I could win $10k. I didn't respond to it because 1. the pic is not $10k quality and 2. it sounded too good to be true. Then I got another email from Great American Photo Contest customerservice@greatamericanphoto-contest.com via icontact.com:

"You've been selected ******,
Congratulations!

On behalf of the Editorial Selection Committee, we are pleased to inform you that ******'s photograph has been selected out of thousands of photographs to be featured in The Most Adorable Pets in America 2012 Edition.
We want to make sure you don't miss out on this extraordinary opportunity to reserve your copy of this heirloom quality beautifully bound hard cover book today.
And here's the best part, it couldn't be easier for you to reserve your copy right now! XXXXXX, click to the right to reserve your copy of this beautiful book today."

I thought they were likely just trying to sell a book, but it occurred to me they may really be trying to get my details. Because they are pretty aggressive for just trying to get pics of cute pets. I did a quick search and yup, it's a fraud:

This sounds like something I've heard of before. Basically, you pay a huge price to have your "special" photo added to a book of photos. In reality, everyone is "selected". There's also another one that offers to put your business in a directory for a price.

Don't be surprised to see an increase in spam coming into your email box.
They most likely sell your email and details to other websites.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.
