Roofing Scamed

Unread postby pipsy » Tue Oct 06, 2020 1:44 am

Just wanted to make other users aware of roofing scams going on.

They are flyby cowboys who know nothing about roofs, hiring nice vans and predenting to be professionals charging people £400 for roof repairs they start the job as they lift more and more tiles more issues arise and they say that roof wooden batten is rotten that needs repaired, they purposly break tiles and charge for new tiles when you can get used ones for free, but dont allow you to get them, they keep increasing their charges.

They use bully tactics bring their team in to hound you for more money. They dont even count the money and they make claims its the wrong amount. They claim to give you a written gurantee when its just a piece of paper made up from home on microsoft word.

Lesson is- Do not pay private tradesman by cash there is no security they refuse to give you a receipt or sign your own receipt. Go for buyer protection schemes with paypal and escrow services or credit cards through bank. Doing a bank transfer is not good either as the bank declines your request due to you authorising the transfer.

We are aware of these types of scams. They are carried out in person rather than through the internet.

Anyone who is a victim of such a scam should call their local police and report it.

Scams carried out in person are not part of our scope here at Scamsurvivors.
