Is my friend being scammed

Unread postby Anniex77 » Mon Jun 01, 2020 4:06 pm

My friend has been talking to someone online and he says he has just moved to Canada from Egypt. We live in Scotland.

Very quickly he has told her he loves her after sharing only conversations on FB. She isn't interested in talking to him in person as she says it's only a friendship.

The profile was created in late 2019 and amassed a large amount of friends all over the world and has joined countless groups.

I've tried searching his name on the internet and only thing i can find is his FB profile. Nothing else about him. I've reversed image searched the pictures I can see but nothing comes up.

Anyone able to offer any advice I don't want to see her get hurt. Also he hasn't asked for any money.

Something about it just seems a little suspect to me but she can't see it.

The FB profile is
https:/ /m.facebook.com/omar.torky.967

Name he uses is Omar torkey and he allegedly works for GMC in Canada. That's about all I know about him.

Can anyone find out any more or do they recognise him? Thanks

Uses several aliases

Unread postby Anniex77 » Mon Jun 01, 2020 4:21 pm

This person takes his time with his scams. Taking several months to build up trust. Eventually getting women to help pay so he can see them. He has two or three victims that I know of. Hopefully by putting his image up other people may be aware of him.

States that he lives in the USA or Canada. He uses the aliases Omar el Tahir, Omar torkey, Omar el torkey and Omar khadir that I know of. Don't know where images come from as nothing shows on a reverse search.

Found out after he tried to get a friend to send money so he could come visit after approx 6 months of talking.

Who does this? Really?

We need more information on him. His email address, emails where he describes himself, phone number?
We can't tell you unless we have more information.

Those photos do not look like the same person either.
The first photo is brown eyed, and the second one, blue eyed.
The facial structure is not the same, jawline, especially.

Don't know any more information as I'm not a FB friends. Wish I did know more. I've done as much investigation work as I know how and I've come up with nothing.

Well, fact is, we have no proof here at all. Did he actually visit them? Then it's a real-life situation that we do not get into here. Until you have proof of scam, i.e. money asked for, it's not a scam.

Someone messages my friend from a new account saying that he was going to try and scam her. He said he was a jealous ex and she believed him. I haven't seen the messages just what she told me. Hence why I'm here trying to find out any more information so that it potentially doesn't happen to her
