Am i vulnerable?

Unread postby jmbo123 » Wed Jul 03, 2019 1:17 pm

I spent last night on Omegle, cammed with a girl which after reading through this website I strongly believe to be a scam. She asked me to add her on skype, this made me wary. I set up a fake skype account with a fake email address and searched her up. I then reverse image searched her profile picture and brought me to a bunch of cases where that photo had been used in other scams. I also recorded our cam and after studying it well, i believe it was virtual (btw tho it was so realistic i was shocked). I gave out a fake name and did not add the scammer on Skype. How vulnerable am i? I know they must've screen recorded my face though it was dark. So the only details they could have is my IP (potentially through omegle) and a pic of my face.

Feeling anxious about this, my facebook was already on private so it would not be possible to view my friends. Any support will be appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I followed the steps and deactivated my facebook just in case. I feel my situation is different though because I never contacted the scammer outside of Omegle and never gave him any of my details. Should i still take precautions?

And also you mentioned reporting any video he uploads. Since I didn't contact the scammer on Skype, should I try to get the link taken down if there is one?

Should i still take precautions?
Take the same precautions as everyone else.
Do all of the steps.

should I try to get the link taken down if there is one?
Yes.

Follow all the steps. Close everything down.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

How would I find the link? The only way i can think would be to add the scammer on Skype, which I don't think is the best way. Better he can't contact me surely

Correct, BUT if he does find you because you did not close everything down, close the video.
Do not leave anything open. Do not add the scammer on skype. The video will be deleted after he cannot find you.

Great thank you, I will do. What are the chances of him finding my true identity if I only provided him with a fake name and showed him my face?
