This man contacted me last year in September. He wrote me a "Hello" in Facebook and I answered the same. I'm not very fond of social networks and never used to enter to my account but that simple introduction surprised me.

We started talking by Messenger but soon he changed to WhatsApp. He introduced himself as an engineer, widow (his wife died when she gave birth) and with a two years old son. He said he was ready to find a woman to love and a mother to his son. After two weeks "he loved me so much" and every day he used to send me pictures of flowers, love songs and all kind of sweet words. You can imagine: honey, baby, dear, sweetie, sweetheart, darling, my love, my wife, you made me feel special... Honestly I started dreaming, leaving everything here and accepting his offer to move to Birmingham to start a new life with him.

At the end of the month he traveled to Istanbul (he won an engineering contract thanks to me because I had brought luck to him, he said). And then the nightmare started: Just arriving at the Istanbul airport he had his little bag stolen with all his job documents, passports, money, credit cards and mobile phone.

That was the first time I sent him money... until last March. He said that he didn't have any money, he tried to get it from his account in the Internet but as he couldn't remember the password after three times his account was blocked. His goods and equipment were at the airport and he was required to pay for the delivery taxes, he needed a new phone... and so on and so on.
Later the reason was to buy food for his son (which British engineer goes to another country for an important job with a baby?), to buy medicines, to pay for the apartment and the transport, to get a good Christmas with his son...

After three months he was paid for his work but the Turkish Company (he never let me know the name) transferred the money directly to his bank account (wasn't it blocked?) and as he still should finish his work there some more time, then he would ask to be paid in cash the last payment so as he could give me back my money.
Time was going on and meanwhile he needed more money; he was always tired, down, worried, with pains and high blood pressure, close to have a heartbreak, starving, afraid of having the virus, his son sick, going to hospital...

Finally he was paid in cash and as he was afraid of having so much cash money in his apartment he was recommended by a bank employee (he said) to send his money to me through diplomatic courier inside a box. Once receiving the package I should open the box, recover my money and save the rest waiting for him and his son (our son, he said) to come to me. That easy!

I will avoid lengthening with this episode because many things happened. The end has come recently. Just after he delivered the box to the courier, I was stunned when he sent me a picture of an opened box full of dollars and a necklace on top as a gift for me.



Just in that moment I understood everything. I had been scammed. It was his final blow, his definitive move. It was.

He send me a track number, a website to follow the package and the password to open the box. (By the way, there is no Diplomatic Fastlink Courier in Istanbul according to the location he gave me).

When the box arrived to Torino in Italy an email was sent to me from Fastlink because they have detected cash money inside the box and I must pay 48,500 euros for an insurance. Another email from Kghs Customs (is fake, the real is Kgh) was sent to me demanding to pay, and another one a week later informing me that the shipment was seized.

So I started to investigate and I discovered that the email address of the Customs Office in Torino where the box was seized was fake as well as the Fastlink website and the email (there are four or five webs fake like that Fastlink with other names).

Note: Two of the fake couriers using the same contact phone number were reported here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=84596.

Everything is fake, everything, phone numbers, addresses, locations, services... I think he's not working alone and I'm sure he's a member of a criminal team. I reported it to http://forum.aa419.org/viewforum.php?f=50 and a member of this team helped me and advised me to publish my story here.

A few days later, as the scammer realized that I would never pay the insurance money, he tried another plan: he would come back to Birmingham with his son and he would pay himself for the insurance from his bank account there (that blocked account). Then the box would come to me and he would fly to my country to get it or if I would prefer come back to their country and live together happily ever more.

The plan was: He pays for the insurance and the box comes to me. The trick is that I have to send him, before he come back to Birmingham, 11,300 euros for the apartment where he has been living lately and 2,200 x 2 (he and his son) for the tickets. This is 15,700 euros.

And here I am. I've committed many errors, first as a naive and then wanting to get my money back and enduring the relationship until a few days ago when I blocked his contact forever.

On his last call at dawn he swore that he has never lied to me and that he needs my help to pay for the customs insurance. He put pressure on me and he begged and cried swearing eternal love. When I told him that I had no more money he insisted me to ask my friends or the bank for a loan or to my boss in my job or my company...

This is a new collateral way to scam, make the victim feel guilty: "If you don't pay, I'm going to lose all my money, you won't be able to get yours back, you have ruined my life, If I lose my money I will never forgive you, I need your help, you never loved me, you don't care me, you never trusted me, you let me here alone, I feel alone, I need to make all right again"... I have read and heard this words dozens of times "Trust me! Believe in me!" This words sound in my brain every day.

I never told him what I discovered but I have committed many mistakes, too many mistakes, especially when I told him that he was cheating on me and that everything was a lie since the beginning. I've really done everything to get my money back without wanting to understand that I would never get it back.

There is no information about him anywhere: the phone and the email are hidden and all the photos he has sent to me don't show any information about file properties. And I'm sure he's not the man who appears in the photos because he never let me see him and his voice is younger than he says to be, a 56 years old man as he looks like in the photos.

I've had a really bad time the four last months, and now I'm just wondering why? Why are these men scamming women? Why has he scammed to me? Why I let him do it to me?

No one around me would believe that I have let myself be scammed. I only can justify myself saying that I did not know before about this type of crime and that I am ashamed of having fall in it. I'm very ashamed because my family and my friends don't know anything about what I have dared to do. I feel an emptiness that is taking me a lot to overcome.

It will take a long time to recover my identity. Yes, my identity because I'm not able to recognize myself anymore.
