The victim met the scammer on Xing. He claims to be Richard Benetti, petroleum engineer, 54 years old, from Brooklyn, New York.

He pretend to have a daughter named Valerie. A so called friend was also involved in scam - John Kennedy, using the email address Kjohn166@outlook.com

The scammer and his alleged daughter kept the contact with the victim on Telegram.

After gaining the victim trust, the scammer shared his login details for an alleged bank account he had opened with Bank of America. The website was a fake one, but the victim was not aware of that. She was asked to log in and check the account, the scammer pretending that this is a sign of good faith.

The scammer asked for financial help and the victim obliged. She was also asked to make a payment from his fictitious bank account to her bank account and recover the financial help provided and she tried to do so.

Shortly after that, the scammer forwarded to the victim a document allegedly received from his bank:

Hundred and Seventy Six Thousand United States Dollars) the day it was
temporarily blocked.

Due to the violation of funds transfer from an unauthorized device on the 27th Day
of February 2020, an update was submitted to the AMERICAN EXPRESS
FRAUD PROTECTION UNIT (AEFPU),this is because the Bank Of America
Security suspected some fraudulent activities which led to your account being
temporarily blocked.

The AEFPU hereby placed a penalty of the total sum of $97,840 (Ninety Seven
Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty United States Dollars) and you are henceforth
blocked from all banking transactions and any future account activities will still
be temporarily blocked until the above fines are lawfully paid.

He had payments to be made and he was in no position of doing it since his bank blocked his account because someone from a different location accessed his account. The money requests followed, the victim being asked to pay that penalty on the scammer behalf.

He found me on Linkedin and claimed he was a petroleum engineer
This man contacted me in January and we had contact via mail, telephone and Telegram.
Now in June he tried to get money from me , but he did not succeed!!!!
Now I found him as Rickard Benetti on your website! Also here with a daughter called Valerie and a friend called John….
An I know many of the photos, as he also sent them to me.

I have the same story. He found me in Linkedin and write me email to my work email. Then we writing some 7 month on email and whatsapp.

The same story about daughter Valerie, mother which live in nursing home, and one friend Jonh.

He say when he are engineer which now live in England but many years live in Brooklyn.

The same story about money. I help he pay 2 invoices (here virtual money) and then he have some problems at work and then he ask me help with money. I of course not send my money And then he write and call me, was insistent and aggressive. And then block me.

I found he in google with photo which he send me. His name is Kevin P.
