After a series of short, meaningless emails, "she" falls madly, deeply in love with me and sends this request with the old Basic Travel Allowance scam:
I got another mail from Royal dutch airline saying I have to come with BTA (basic Travelling allowance) before I can board. I forwarded you the mail already.
Here is that email:
Dear MISS Rose Williams,
Welcome on board. This comes to you as a confirmation towards your flight booking to Thailand.
We are bringing to your notice as an American citizen leaving for vacation to Thailand, you are mandated to display a substantial BTA ( basic Travelling allowance ) .
Considering the Cost of living in the Thailand which is 78.56% higher than in the United States.
The American customs, under the united states travelling policy would request you display a minimum amount of USD 950, this certifies that you would be leaving the United States with enough funds towards your upkeep, for the duration of 6 days or more you would be staying overseas.
The customs would demand you display to them this minimum amount, before you would be allowed to leave the United States.
Its a strict policy.
Note that the fake itinerary "she" sent me was on Cathay Pacific, not KLM. lol
And "she" says:
I don't know that something like that will occur and I don't have enough money right now so you will have to assist me on this part. The money will not be spent it's just for me to board so you can have it back once I arrived.
Wow, does anyone actually get scammed on something so poorly done as this?
