We, too, almost fell for this scam! I'm in Georgia not far from Chattanooga. I get an email from a guy named Angelo Cafaro. His email is monster.energydrink1@yahoo.com. I requested a number where I could actually speak to him thinking that if he provided a number it's not a scam! It always goes to voicemail. Here's the number 661 3797652. I googled it and its out of Bakersfield CA.

Ours was supposed to be $600 a week! Yes I know too good to be true but.... Being down against it I thought, ok ill drive around with an ugly wrap for $600!!!!!

I'm just upset that this can happen to anyone and there's nothing you can do to!

So is there any real car wrap co that will pay you to advertise? If so can someone email me at xxx

Just got it also, and weirdly enough, I write about cars, although electric cars. It almost took me by surprise. Posting it on Facebook also and G+.

Thanks for the update, 33Nicolas.

Did the scammer used one different email address to contact you? Other details as those already posted above? If yes, can you post them, please?

This other position is very much available if you are much interested.

DETAILS:

Our company is one of the most innovative Advertising agencies with clients all over the world. We have a target to advertise so many products for a number of companies mostly in USA as a whole and we also have representatives in this region.

The ads are typically vinyl decals, also known as "auto wraps," that almost seem to be painted on the vehicle and which will cover left and right exterior parts of your vehicle doors and your vehicle front and back exterior surfaces.

What does the company get out of this type of ad strategy?

Lots of exposure and awareness. The auto wraps tend to be colorful and eye-catching and attract lots of attention. Plus, it's a form of advertising with a captive audience. This means that people who are stuck in traffic can't avoid seeing the wrapped car alongside. We work as an advertising agent and we will be doing the advert for the new company which will be producing biscuit which includes cookies, crackers, and cereals. The advert will be a small wrap which will be placed on your car and we need someone in your state who will be dedicated to doing this and be rest assured you will be paid

Replied to a craigslist ad about a contract delivery position and received a reply via email from Raymond Ramirez of Advanced Communications, INC. I was told the position was already filled, but he then offered me the ad wrap for the car. I told him I was interested and sent him the information he was asking for.

After my cell number was sent to him, I was receiving emails and text messages about the position and what the next steps were. I was told to confirm a code that would be told to me over the phone by their Automatic Voice Response so they could identify I was the correct person who replied to their ad.

First red flag was that their "Automatic Voice Response" turned out to just be the CRAIGSLIST recorded operator service to set up your phone number to your email address when posting ads. The operator said not to give the code out to anyone, so I sent a text on over to Advanced Communications (the company that was trying to recruit me for their ad wrap position) asking them why they use craigslist instead of their own recorded service and asking them to call me directly so I could confirm it was a legitimate company and job offer. Mr. Ramirez called me (from their "Text Only" number) and said they use the craigslist AVR system for payment reasons. I didn't really understand that, but was still giving them the benefit of the doubt even though it sounded a bit weird to me. Even after reading that craigslist does not handle ANY part of payments, I was hesitant, but I sent the verification code to him. Which then messed up the email address that was connected to my phone number I use when posting ads on craigslist to sell something. I now have to wait 90 days to switch the phone number back to my main email address since he switched it when I gave him the code for verification.

I was then told via email that my vehicle was chosen and I would be receiving $500/week as an upfront payment. A few days pass and I receive a text message saying that the check was mailed out via USPS and they'd be sending me an email with the tracking number. I had no email with the tracking number or any new email from Advanced Communications about my payment. I sent a few texts asking to be sent the email again and even just asking them to send me the tracking number through a text message directly to my phone since they've already verified the number. I told him I would not be using any money grams or wire transfer services to send money to anyone or anywhere and that if I had to pay the ad wrap specialist on his behalf, I would pay in cash and in person with the money that was sent to me by their company. I also told him I would not be scheduling the ad placement on my car until the check has fully processed and I physically have the $500 cash in my hand. No response. I called the text only number about an hour and a half later after no response was given by phone, text message, or email. He answered with a very apathetic, "Hello, Advanced Communications." I asked if the check I would be receiving would be a personal or business check. I asked who or what company should I be expecting the check to come from. I asked to see their company website (I had googled them and had found nothing on them). I asked why he and his company are exchanging emails through gmail and aol, not through the company's email network.

Mr. Ramirez could not give me a direct answer to any of my questions without it sounding like an illegitimate company and scam. He told me he could not disclose the information of the company that would be advertising on my vehicle until the payment processed in my bank account (So, am I just supposed to agree on ANY kind of advertisement being on my car WITHOUT knowing the company/brand/product?) He then told me their company website was under construction and they didn't have one yet. He changed the subjects and gave me a run around on the other questions I had asked him. At this point he was starting to get a little annoyed and told me to send all my questions to them via email and they'd respond back as soon as possible. I didn't understand why he couldn't just directly answer those simple questions over the phone right then. He made up an excuse that other people were on the line and he had to go, yet he stayed on the phone and remained silent (acting like he had hung up.) I could still hear kids and the television on in the background, as well as his heavy breathing on the phone. Are you serious? I'm not stupid. I told him I could still hear him and he came back, "Oh, sorry. Can you hear me better now?" Yeah, I can hear you so well that I can hear your kids in the background speaking. Idiot.

After that, I told him I was no longer interested in the position and that it was sounding even more like a scam at this point, he completely hung up on me before I was finished with my sentence.

The car ad wrap was too good to be true, but I'm glad I caught onto it before those assholes tried stealing any of my money. This website definitely helped with my detective work, thanks!

PLEASE report these scam emails to the government! that is the only way they can be caught and stopped! forward any scam/spam email you receive to: spam@uce.gov AND spam@uce.gov
those are the offical email addresses to report email spam. also, before you fwd it, please click on the "view message source" button to view all the "hidden" info about the email, such as IP address and actual email it came from. when i clicked on "view message source" for this monster spam email you all received, it displayed this, which as you can see has the IP address of this spammer. it also displayed the "real" email address behind the spam. AFTER you reveal the message source info, paste that into the FWD email with the original spam email and send it to the government! that is how we STOP scams!
