Received a congratulatory email and invitation to an audition from a Morgan Chase from K Mart Casting, claiming to be the in-house agent for K Mart. Neither he/she nor the agency exists. They emailed me shortly after I posted my theatrical resume' on Projectcasting.com. I could not find anything positive or negative online about Morgan Chase. I got scammed out of money that was supposed to pay for my trip and hotel to New York for an audition on Sunday. The address is not open on the weekend. They Fed Exed a fake cashier's check for $2450.00 and I deposited it and wired most of it minus $500 traveling expenses to their "travel agent" Ronnie Collins in Brownfield, Texas 79316. The next day they sent another check which I did not deposit, but reported it to the banks and law enforcement when I saw a different name and address on the envelope with the same phone number. I am out of some money because I did not do enough due diligence, although I had called the bank with the check number and amount to see if there was an alert on it. I should have brought it in, which I did with the second one and they immediately saw it was a fake. Don't know why my bank did not realize it at the teller window. But I learned my lesson. That is not how a real casting agent does business. Also, the names will probably change, because they are fake anyway.
