So long as you follow every step that the site tells you then it'l be okay, it's only when you don't follow them that problems happen. It's been four months and I'm doing good, do everything to the letter and just put this right behind you.

Hey autofac,

You made a mistake. It happens. It happened to all of us on here at one point. As long as you followed all of the steps the admins told you to take, you will be fine. I know that you're mind might never be fully at ease, but try not to beat yourself up about it.

Take the shame that you feel from this event and learn from it. Do that and you will be okay :D

Best wishes man,

Time to wake up, blackmailed victims. Get out of your Fantasy World!

This is a scam that takes 10 minutes and is usually over in less than 2 weeks. But some people refuse to let go.

You imagine and believe the scammer's version of "You are screwed!" is real and it is not.

It's almost like having your cc stolen, being told that once you cancel your card it'll be ok, yet still worrying that they'll empty your bank account with that card.

But what if a year down the line i'm rich and they use that card to steal all my money?

What if if I will become a celebrity and the scammer will find out and use that video, what I will do?"

And what if they come back in 30 years when I'm the Prime Minister, and they steal my new bank account so i can't book my first-class flight to Rio that summer?
How will I be able to explain that, and keep it out of the media that I dropped my pants online 30 years ago?

Get real. IF you need to toss your PC and smart phone in the ocean to stop feeding Your Fantasy World you created in your own head to get over your fear, do it. Or actually read and listen to the helpful topics we wrote on the forum. How about starting with page 1 of this topic you are reading right now?

Nothing here on our forum is helping you to just let go of your scam and your Fantasies, weeks or months later?
Then you need to talk to someone else at home or go see a psychiatrist.

Seriously.
If anyone asks you for money on the Internet they are always a scammer, 100% of the time.

Imadeamistake has written his story six months after the scam, and talks about his recovery here:

If you are struggling with your own recovery, have a look there. Perhaps you'll find strength and inspiration for yourself reading that story. Thanks for posting that to help others, Imadeamistake. :)

A recent PM from a "stuck on the scam in his head and still a victim."

Its already 4 months that I was scammed. What is the next process
please advice.

My reply:
Go back to real life, using all new social accounts.
Forget about the scammer, he is long gone.

Yes, it IS that simple to turn from being a victim into a survivor. Try it. Take the first step. Hopefully, much, much sooner than this guy has. He has given the scammer 3 months of his real life that was not necessary, at least.

The survivor in this topic wins the coveted "Like Water Flowing Off A Duck's Back Award," for his most succinct advice and learning his lesson in milliseconds, instead of whining for months about non-existent videos. This one made my whole day. :D

Your Posts of Scammer Details DO Make A Difference

Unread postby SlapHappy » Tue Dec 08, 2015 1:45 pm

Your posts of scammer details DO make a difference to others. We see this every day here. Every detail you provide helps someone in the world. Posting the scammer's details is the first step and most important one in the recovery process. You may have found us because of what someone else posted, or you may be the first one to post about a particular scammer. Feel good about yourself for doing the right thing, and giving all the information you have.
The only way to fight evil is for good people to stand up and do the right thing.

Just today we got this on a form. We get many others proving that your input here is saving others more hurt, worry, and heartache:
Where did you find us?: I Googled "scammer to pay's name."

Hello.

I was just scammed today and I completely fell for the bait.

I paid.

Not what they were asking, but what I could...they haggled.

I still don't know how to feel. Or, what to do now. I've taken the precautions put forth here.

They found me via one mutual friend on facebook. That's the only way into my circle, I am unsearchable on FB mostly. I should have know, I was suspicious. But, I've never had a scammer interact, it used to be bots that were predictable.

I don't know how to feel.
