Re: Car Wrap Scam

Thanks for the added details. Don't worry about IP, as gmail can't be traced.

Drop him like a rock now. Do not respond to him. He has your real life details and is a criminal.
You could also spook him, and make him change emails and details, taking his victims with him.
This will make your post here worthless to others. Leave him alone.

He probably will not continue with you if you do not respond, but if he does...
If he sends a check. it will be fake. Write "fake" on it, and alert the bank or local police that a scammer has sent you a fake check in a scam.

Well folks, he got me too! I got a generic txt on my phone with the email address and I replied and gave him all my address info. THEN about 2 hrs later just for fun I Googled his name and the first site that came up was this one!! I have not yet received his check and have already blocked any future emails from him.

The email address used was kelvin.bright@gmail.com. Here is all the properties of the email:

As I said, I have not received, nor will I cash his "check"!

In speaking with the good folks here in there chat forum, this guy is in some foreign country (other then the U.S. where I'm from) and probably uses either a library or Internet cafe to login and do his/her work and therefore, is nearly impossible to catch. maybe when/if the check comes I'll turn it over to the FBI but other then that, I am just glad I haven't proceeded with the scam. THANX SO MUCH for the ppl from this website for being so enlightened and informative!!

Do I need to check my credit report since I answered his questions? I have the check here. Do I do anything with it or just rip it up? Thanks. Should have googled before. I was involved with redbull on the level and though his was just an extension like they sold my contact info to them. Am I ok or do I need to take additional steps besides not bein an idiot.

I was also contact by this email address. I have all the emails and what I read now is a fake check. It is unopened on my table. Do I rip it up or take it to the police. Do I need to watch my credit report since I answered his questions?

Groman12345,

the answer for your both questions is yes. Go with the check to the police, dont try to cash it. And watch your credit report also.

If you have any other details about the scammer, please, post them here.

Thanks for report, ChaCha. Don't bother trying to "chase him down." These guys live in a different country, use fake names, addresses, untraceable phones, etc. Best we can do is warn others, like you have done, and learn more about other scams online. Thanks for joining. :)
